안녕하세요 제니 서머스 입니다. 지난 주 수업 업데이트 드릴게요.
중간고사를 보고, 성적표가 발부되었습니다. 첫 수업때 ㄱㄴㄷ도 읽지 못했던 아이들이 한자 한자 읽는 수준이 되었고, 너무나 잘 해주어 얼마나 기특한지 모릅니다. 많은 칭찬 부탁드려요^^ *피치못할 사정으로 결석한 학생들은 돌아오는 주에 시험을 보게 됩니다. *3월 16일은 봄방학으로 수업이 없습니다.
저번주 한글학습 시간에는 - 중간고사 이후, 받침 파트 2(ㅂㅍ=ㅂ / ㄱㅋㄲ=ㄱ / ㅅㅈㅊㄷㅌ=ㄷ)와
- 한글 읽기를 마무리하는 종합연습2를 학습했습니다.
- 또한 교과서에서 학습했던 단어들로 이루어진 동화책을 읽어보았습니다.
- 돌아오는 주부터는 스피킹 수업에 들어가게 됩니다.
창의문화 시간에는 - 한글 모스부호를 알아보았습니다. 영어와는 다른 모습에 우리 아이들의 신기해 하는 모습을 볼 수 있었습니다. 코드 하나하나가 모여 한 글자가 되는 한글의 원리를 깨우치는 시간이었습니다.
- 그 동안에 배웠던 1주~6주차 단어를 공부하고 암기해 보았습니다.
개나리반은 매주 평균 10개(총130여개)의 테마 단어를 매주 공부합니다.
마지막 주차에 여러 반 학생들과 몸으로 말하는 골든벨 퀴즈 대회를 할 예정이니, 집에서도 해당 단어들을 자주 사용해주세요^^
재미한국학교협의회(NAKS) 남서부지역에는 2024년 제19회 나의 꿈 말하기 대회를 다음과 같이 개최합니다.
1. 행사 명 : “나의 꿈 말하기” 대회 / “작은 나의 꿈 말하기” 대회 2. 소주제 : ‘내가 바라는 평화’ – 자신의 꿈과 접목시키기 권장함 3. 일 시 : 2024년 4월 20일 오후 4시 ~ 6시 4. 대회방법 : 비대면 (온라인 : zoom code는 당일 오전 참가 학교 교장님들께 공지 예정) 5. 참가 대상 및 자격 조건 1) 나의 꿈 말하기 (초등 5-12학년) - 2006년 1월 1일 ~ 2012년 12월 31일 사이에 출생한 학생 2) 작은 나의 꿈 말하기 (초등 1~4학년) 3) 현 거주지에서 3년 이상 거주한 협의회소속학교 학생 (*예외:미국에서 태어났지만 부득이한 이유로 새 거주지로 이사하게 된 경우, 거주지 협의회에서 3년 미만 살았더라도 참가자격이 있음) 4) 지난 대회 (1회 ~ 18회) 대상 수상자는 참가할 수 없음 5) 한국에서 정규교육 (유치원 제외)을 1년 이상 받지 않은 학생 6) 학교별로 나의꿈 말하기 1명, 작은 나의 꿈 말하기 1명 참가 가능함. 6. 신청마감 일시 : 2024년 4월 15일(월) 7. 참가비 : $10 8. 시 상 : 예년과 동일한 시상 예정, 추후 상세히 공지됨 - 본 대회 1등 수상자 (5학년 이상)은 전국대회 참가자격을 갖게됨 (낙스공문 참조) 9. 문 의 : 서양지 남서부지역 회장 ©917-496-3739

Hello, Parents! This is Jenny Summers.
I wanted to update you on our recent activities in class:
Last week, we conducted midterm exams, and the grades have been distributed. I'm delighted to share the progress our students have made since the beginning of the term. From struggling with basic Korean characters to now being able to read sentences, their improvement has been remarkable. Please join me in praising their efforts. *Students who were unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances will be required to take the exam next week.
*There are no classes on March 16 due to spring break.
In our Korean language sessions last week, - we focused on Part 2 of final consonants (ㅂㅍ=ㅂ / ㄱㅋㄲ=ㄱ / ㅅㅈㅊㄷㅌ=ㄷ)
- and Exercise 2 for reading Korean characters after the midterm exams.
- We also read a storybook composed of words that I learned from textbooks
- Starting next week, we will be starting speaking classes.
During our creative culture sessions, - We explored Korean Morse code and found it fascinating due to its differences from English Morse code. It was a time of understanding how each code corresponds to a single Korean character.
- We revisited and memorized the words from weeks 1 to 6 of our curriculum.
The Ganari class has been diligently studying an average of 10 theme words each week, totaling around 130 words. As we approach the final week, we're planning to host a Golden Bell Quiz competition where students from various classes will participate, testing their knowledge of the words we've learned. I encourage you to support your child in using these words frequently at home as well.
The Southwestern Branch of the Korean School Association (NAKS) will be hosting the 19th Annual "Speak About My Dream" Contest in 2024, as follows:
1. Event Name: "Speak About My Dream" Contest / "Little Speak About My Dream" Contest
2. Subtheme: 'Desired Peace' - Encouraged to integrate personal dreams with this theme
3. Date: April 20, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
4. Contest Format: Virtual (Online: Zoom code will be announced by the school principals on the morning of the event)
5. Eligibility and Qualifications for Participation
1) Speak About My Dream (Elementary Grades 5-12)
- Students born between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2012
2) Little Speak About My Dream (Elementary Grades 1-4)
3) Students attending member schools of the association for over 3 years in their current residence (*Exception: Students born in the United States but moved to a new residence due to unavoidable reasons may participate even if they have lived in the current residence for less than 3 years)
4) Previous contest winners (1st - 18th contests) are not eligible to participate
5) Students who have not received regular education in Korea (excluding kindergarten) for more than 1 year
6) Each school can nominate 1 participant for Speak About My Dream and 1 participant for Little Speak About My Dream.
6. Application Deadline: April 15, 2024 (Monday)
7. Participation Fee: $10
8. Awards: Similar awards as previous years, detailed information will be announced later
The 1st place winner of this contest (5th grade and above) qualifies for the national contest (refer to NAKS memo)
